Just One Taste Masters and Mercenaries Topped Book 2 edition by Lexi Blake Romance eBooks
Masters and Mercenaries is one of my all time favorite series. I'm so excited that there is a spin-off.You get to catch up with the McKay-Taggert clan. Ian is back with all his sarcasm.
The characters featured in this book may be my least favorite. Deena held onto the past so tightly. Eric proved himself over and over again. I felt that she was a bit whiney. And I found that the author was repetitive with the expressing of Deena's feelings.
Eric was noble and referred to as a white knight many times throughout the story. I really liked his character. I liked that he didn't hold bitterness towards his ex wife. Not too crazy about the ending. I feel like Lexie Blake was bored while writing this one and was ready for it to be finished.
I'm hoping the next book will hold something new. A little pizzazz maybe...I'm really excited to read about Sebastian, the soldier who is missing both legs. That will be different.
Not my favorite but I'm hooked on this series and can't bring myself to skip one single book.

One Hot Chef…. A Woman Who Lost Her Taste for Love… A Perfect Recipe for Passion
The McKay-Taggart family is back! This is the second book in the Masters & Mercenaries spin-off series "Topped", which takes place in Sean (Little Tag) Taggart's restaurant Top. Just One Taste is about Eric Vail, the sous chef and Deena Holmes, the server that Eric wants as his! When they’re put together in the same training class at the infamous club Sanctum, he knows this is his shot. As a former SEAL, Eric is willing to show Deena just how good they can be together.
I really liked Eric. He's a great character, and I wanted to learn so much more about him! I'm so vested in this group, that when someone new enters the family, I need to know everything about them!!
Deena is divorced and her ex is an a**. Now she's working her way through college, and making sure to keep her heart safe - relationships only bring trouble, even if it's with the one man she can't forget about, Eric.
As the pair work through the Sanctum training, Deena's walls start to crack and Eric is there to catch her! Deena wants a 'bad boy' to and doesn't think the 'good guy' Eric can fulfill that fantasy, but she couldn't be more wrong! This was a really good book and I'm so glad we keep getting to see the other 'family' members to catch up.....
As with any of the M&M books, my favorite character and main 'book boyfriend' is Ian Taggart. He just lights me up - Ian is one of a kind and truly the greatest "Domic"-relief EVAR!!!
Eric Vail is a sous chef at Top, the hottest restaurant in Dallas. Its owned by Sean Taggart, he hires former military to work at this restaurant so Eric being a former SEAL fits right in. He loves cooking and thrilled that Sean agrees to help him open his own restaurant. Always up for a challenge he looks forward to getting started. In the meantime his biggest challenge to date is to get the lovely Deena Holmes to notice him as more than a work colleague. When Eric decides o sign up for the Dom training class at BDSM club Sanctum owned by Sean's brother Ian it turns out to be the perfect opportunity for Eric to get his hands on Deena in more way than one.
Deena has lost at love so many times she has closed off her heart. Eric her friend at work is the most gorgeous man she’s ever seen, but she can't risk her heart again. So she keeps him at arms length no matter how hard he tries to get her to go out with him. Since she realizes love is not an option for her she signs up as a submissive trainee at Sanctum in hopes of finding some fun with a Dom so she can explore the world of BDSM. She know she can leave love out of the equation. That is until Eric becomes the Dom she is assigned to then her heart comes into play and she's afraid she'll get hurt.
She has to keep it casual its all about the fun and the experience but she soon realizes Eric maybe more than she can handle.
I loved Deena and Eric as a couple. Eric was so alpha male sexy, he's military and he can cook what more could a girl ask for? Deena did annoy me sometimes with her resistance to the big guy but I knew it was because of her past experiences that made her afraid to let her heart go. Lexi does such a great job developing her characters that you feel their emotions. I also adore that she adds in some of our favorite characters from the Masters and Mercenaries series especially my love Ian Taggart. He is the comic relief in any situation. When Deena tries to talk him into giving her a new Dom to train with I laughed and I cried a little with Deena.
All in all this was a sexy, fun read that had me feeling all sorts of emotions.
Another good book that could be read without the rest of the series. I identified with Deena.
Eric has watched and waited while Deena guarded her emotions. He has spent the past year studying her walls. As her training Dom he finally has to tools to release her love.
It took Deena years to pay off the divorce debt. Still bitter she never wants to be hurt again. When offered the chance to train as a Sanctum sub she takes it. A contract that gives her sex with orgasms but no messy emotional commitment sounds perfect! When she is paired Eric she must face some harsh facts. Oblivious self delusion, double standards, and entrenched views are all blown away with just one taste.
